First off, I don't know how women had babies before doctors started to induce, bless them!!! The story of my pregnancy is that I thought I should be due on February 10th but after my first appointment, the doctor set the date of the 20th based on my ultra sound. But all along, I still thought of my date as the 10th so after I almost failed my glucose test, my doctor told me to plan on the 13th or 14th to be induced since he will probably be a big baby. So when I went in expecting to set the date, he said I wasn't ready but that he wouldn't let me go past the 20th. Then when I went it expecting to set the date for the 20th, he said I still wasn't ready. But not only did he say that I wasn't ready, he made is sound like I would have to be induced later on but will also have to go in the night before to have cervidal to soften the cervix (which I had to do with Carson) and that would be an additional $900 since we were paying cash. So basically, I bawled, I was so upset.
He told me to come back on Monday morning, the 22nd, and I went with my bags packed ready to go straight to the hospital. Finally, I was at 3cm so he sent me to the hospital. My mom stayed with me till Chyler was done with work. I checked in at noon and they started the pitocin at 12:30pm and everything was going really well and my nurse thought I would deliver before her shift was over at 7pm, she ever ordered me dinner. But after a few hours, I blood pressure dropped and they were worried that the babies would drop as well so they stopped the pitocin which stopped everything. It was so frustrating. Everyone kept predicting when he would come and he never did so I was about to punch everyone for continuing to predict.
My doctor arrived around 10pm I think but didn't come in till about an hour later then just stood there all annoyed so I was glad that it was in the middle of the night. I pushed for a while but not much happened so they stopped my epidural since they thought that was why he wasn't coming. So after 2 hours of hard pushing, he finally came out. I was at the last level for a long time and he just wouldn't come. Luckily he wasn't in any distress, just me. But I definitely felt that immense relief that people talk about when they have babies naturally. He was so swollen that he looked about 10 lbs, everyone in the room was shocked at how big he looked. And he kept his hands up at his mouth the whole time.
I was so glad that he finally arrived and man was I exhausted It looks like he is already smiling at his daddy He kept his legs straight out like this too, he was just as glad to be out and streach out After he came, I guess I wouldn't stop bleeding so they were focused on that instead of giving me food. But they would give me apple juice so I kept drinking that. By the time they moved us over to our new room, it was about 3am. Poor Chyler was so wiped out from working so hard that he passed out and I didn't want to wake him to help me. I was able to do everything in my bed like change his diaper and feed him but I wasn't able to put him back in his bed. Needless to say, I only got about 15 mins of sleep that night.
We totally missed Carson while we were in the hospital so I was so excited when he came to see us. But he was even hestitant to come to me and wouldn't go near the baby. This was him just sitting trying to figure everything out. They stayed for a couple of hours and he spent most of the time going on walks outside the room.
Grandma holding Kade and Presley. My mom arrived on the 15th thinking I would just be getting home from the hospital. It was still nice having her here to help before he arrived since I was so miserable. Also, I was really excited that Carson would be able to bond with her but she arrived with the toddler bed for Carson (which meant that he wouldn't be sleeping in mom and dad's room) and he knew something was up so he didn't bond as planned. Then to top it off, she was with me for the delivery while he was home with Britney so he attached himself to Britney instead of Grandma.
Since we were paying cash, we checked out at before midnight on the 23rd so we wouldn't risk being charged an additional day. But we were thrilled to go home, we are not fans of the hospital. Here is our little guy all ready to go home, notice how he still always has his hands up.
